Sermon of the Day: Let the One Who Boasts Boast in the Lord

Philippians 2:10-11

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Good Morning men.

This is such a powerful verse. Every time I read it I am just absolutely amazed and excited at how this will even be possible.

Does this mean that all men will be saved? Unfortunately that is not the case.

I am reading a book titled ‘Who is Jesus?’ Written by R.C. Sproul.

There was a question and topic that was brought up that really caught my attention. Let me share my notes and thoughts with you.

Are we aware of the claims that Jesus is the Son of God?

If your reading this my guess is your answer is probably yes. If that is the case we have a decision to make. You may think you have made one already, however let’s try to dig a little deeper.

First of all if we are aware of those claims, are we for Him or against Him?

I’m sure most of us reading this would have to agree we are for Him.

Next, is He Lord or is He just a great man who did some great things a long time ago?

This question may not seem to significant of needing an answer today or even soon. Which is unfortunate when we think this way. Is anyone promised tomorrow? Is any of us completely in control of our health?

However lets take it a step further, How important is this question of Lordship in light of eternity?

If you don’t know yet, let me share with you that the Bible makes it very clear that every single human being will have to be face to face with the God of the universe when this life is over. We will all have to give an account for the life we lived here on earth and most importantly how we handled the above questions.

Let me close with a verse that I pray will never be heard by any one of us on that day.

Matthew 7:21-23

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
