Broken Beggars

Sermon of the Day: Don’t Waste Your Life

Another powerful sermon from Pastor John. Highly suggest this one and the last one, ‘Be Devoted to Prayer’.

John 2:24-25 NLT

24 But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew all about people. 25 No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart.

Good Morning Men.

What does Jesus mean here to you? Try think about it for a minute and then read on.

My hope today is to give three examples of support to what Jesus is illustrating here about the nature and condition of man’s heart. The first will be a short devotion clip explaining where the heart needs to be, the others will be two bible verses that explain or illustrate the condition of every human heart.

Love Worth Finding Daily Treasure : Beggars Before God

Beggars Before God

Matthew 5:1-3 says, “And seeing the multitudes, [Jesus] went up into a mountain: and when He was set, His disciples came unto Him: And He opened His mouth, and taught them, saying, ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’”

Jesus said that beggars are blessed. Now, who are these blessed beggars? They are not poor because of their lack of financial resources. Nor is he talking about being poor-spirited, that is, going around with a sad expression.

Before a person can enter the kingdom of heaven, he must first admit that in the spiritual realm he is absolutely, totally bankrupt. Not just that he is spiritually poor, but that he is spiritually a beggar before God. When you come to Jesus Christ, you do not strut into His presence. There are no peacocks in heaven. No matter how much you may have in the material, psychological, or social realm, you are totally bankrupt before God. If you don’t see that, you will never ever get into the kingdom of heaven. When you come to God you must say, “In my hand no price I bring. Simply to Thy cross I cling.” That’s where it begins.

Men, if you’re not broken like this, and you want to be, just keep asking the Lord to humble your heart. Take steps everyday to see others better than yourself. It will be a life long journey, that is why Paul says to fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12). Would it not be well worth it to hear those precious words I hope we all long to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”?

Genesis 6:5

Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Does this verse seem to align with the thoughts of your own heart?

I know this is definitely not what you will hear in any secular talk today.

Men, I’ve learned to get real honest with myself. This verse describes my heart exactly. I fight and struggle daily to take my thoughts captive unto the obedience of Christ, and seek the Lord continually. There is no other way brothers.

John 3:3

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

I felt this verse was a great connection to this discussion. Men, if our hearts are so good, our thoughts are so amazing why would we need to be born again?

My hope and prayer is that I have given some questions for you to really ponder and meditate on. Spend some intentional time with the Lord in your prayer closet and seek Him with all your heart. Don’t give up.

Love you guys, praying for you all, very proud of those of you that have shared your growth and struggle with me. Thank you for letting me be a part of your life. I am truly honored.
