Sermon of the Day: Be Devoted to Prayer

John 6:60-66

60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”

61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. 65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”

66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

Good Morning Men.

This passage really got me thinking. How common this seems to me today, especially in Christianity.

Our ears hear something, or we see something we don’t like or approve of. Does that mean we reject the whole thing?

I was just having a conversation the other day with a brother struggling to turn to Christ. Some of his struggles was with what other so-called Christians do and say, and how they act. These were part of the reasons why he was hesitant to turn to Christ.

This couldn’t be farther from the truth.

The reason it is hard to turn to Christ for every soul is because our hearts our rebellious towards Christ. Antagonistic towards anything of the spirit. That is why we must be born again, we need a reboot, reset our hearts down a new path.

Men the goal of this message was to encourage you. No matter where you’re at in your walk with Jesus Christ I’m sure there are areas where you are struggling. Especially in regards to faith, belief and for some of you even doctrine.

My urgent plea to you is don’t reject the whole thing like the people in the verse above. Please don’t look for an excuse to reject God. When you stand face to face with God I can guarantee you that excuse will hold no water.

Men lets not let our pride get the best of us. Let us humble ourselves before the mighty hand of God, seek Him with all your heart.

Could it be possible that God knows a bit more than us? Could it be possible that God Almighty has a bit more understanding than us? Than be patient and seek Him through it.

Keep it in perspective men. We need to obey Romans 12:2 and renew our minds daily. Spending time in God’s Word, spending time in prayer searching the heart and mind of God almighty. Remember this is a marathon men, you will not get all the answers, understanding and knowledge overnight.

Remember our message a little while back about the Christian Grind? Line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little.
