Do You Trust Me? ~ God

Sermon of the Day: How To Have A Healthy Self-Image

Jeremiah 17:5-8

This is what the Lord says:

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
    who draws strength from mere flesh
    and whose heart turns away from the Lord.
That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
    they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
    in a salt land where no one lives.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
    that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
    and never fails to bear fruit.”

Good Morning Men!

I believe this passage speaks for itself. I’m pretty sure we all get the picture here, right?

Safe to say we all agree that this passage primarily is speaking about what our trust is in.

So what is your trust in brothers?

What if unforeseen things happened, things out of your control, that made you late for an important meeting or event?

What would your first thoughts be? What would your first set of actions be?

What if you were to get fired today?

What would your first thoughts be? What would your first set of actions be?

What if you were to lose a loved one?

What would your first thoughts be? What would your first set of actions be?

The point I am trying to make men, is that I think to often we forget or many of us don’t realize that God is completely sovereign. There are so many scriptures that illustrate how God orchestrates our lives. Yes, even bad things. God can allow certain bad things to happen. Many of us don’t like to hear that, especially those of us that have been greatly impacted and maybe still recovering from a tragic loss.

That is where this trust becomes real. It is no longer just a feel good thing to do on Sunday. Men the God of the universe has called you to know Him and love Him; or you would not be reading this. He loves you so much, and just like when I need to discipline my son, he does not enjoy it. In fact he gets mad at me sometimes. But I do it because I love him so much, but my love for my son is nowhere near the love God has for you and me.

The proof is in the pudding men. Living a life of trust, trust that will not fear the heat or the drought of this life. What does that mean? The trials and tribulations that will hit every single one of us in some way. When we are anchored in Christ, when we are anchored in the Word of God these things will not shake us.

We may get sad, we may have fear, and worry but men if we are anchored correctly the fruit we produce in our lives will never stop!

What does that mean? Well, the lives we are impacting and serving will continue. The words we speak, our outlook on life, the way we treat others. Or our children will see our faith tested, and see how much we trust our God, and they will know He is real. Because if our faith fails in front of our children and we want them to know God, they will be like, no thanks. Didn’t work for you, why would I waste my time.

Be blessed not cursed. Hope in the Lord. Trust Him no matter what. God’s ways and thoughts are so much greater and so much higher than ours. So lets stop bringing Him down to our level. Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God and trust Him.
