Pray the Word

Sermon of the Day: How to Know the Will of God

Nehemiah 1:8-9

Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.

Although the interpretation of this scripture is absolutely powerful, and what was happening here in Nehemiah is very exciting and important. I want to just focus on one small, but very important part of this text.

Nehemiah says, “I pray, the word that you commanded…”. This teaches me two very powerful and important things about praying.

First, knowing the Word of God. The only way you can confidently pray the Word of God like this, is simple. You have to know it. You have to spend time reading it, mediating on it and making it a part of your life.

Second, is the faith needed to pray Gods Word. When we pray the Word of God like this, we are putting all of our faith in God. We are saying, God I don’t care what I want, what the world thinks or anything else. I want what you said, and I believe that what you said is far more than just words in and old book.

Men, if you every the first few 2 chapters of the Bible, you read that God spoke and the world was created. God spoke and things were created out of darkness!

I am not here to convince you of the authenticity of the Bible, because there are thousands of prophetic words that God spoke, that came to fruition. The Bible speaks for itself.

If we can learn the Word of God, place all of our hope and trust in it. Start to pray it into our lives and our situations, your faith will radically grow. You will see miracles and prayers answered that would be impossible for us to achieve on our own.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may He shine His face upon you and be gracious to you.
