Well-fed on the Living Word

June 8, 2016

Exodus 34:28

So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

This was an amazing statement in God’s Word for me this morning.

For those of us that believe that all scripture is inspired by God, what an amazing testament this verse is of God’s holy and majestic sovereignty.

How long can the average human live without water? without food?

Although the numbers will vary greatly, on average a man can only live without water for 3-7 days. An average man can live without food for about 21 days, give or take a few.

God says, Moses went 40 days and 40 nights. No food, no water.

How does this happen?

To put it simply, God was speaking to Moses. Moses was being fed on the living Word of God. The Bible is also called the living Word of God. I believe this a concrete foundation for what Jesus teaches us in Matthew 4:4:

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'”

God is so much bigger and greater than food. God is completely sovereign over all things in this world as we know it, the visible and invisible.

Men, this ministry is founded upon our name; I Challenge You.

Men, can I challenge this morning to really search and dig deep into your relationship with Christ? It is time for us all to stop riding the fence of Christianity. Men, God has so much more in store for you than you could ever dream or imagine.

Look at a few verses from this Psalm I read this morning:

Psalm 84

My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Men have you ever longed for more of God that you feel faint? Or to the point your heart and flesh cry out for the living God? Pray for it men. If you desire these things, pray for it daily, multiple times a day. Turn these words into a prayer men. I know and believe with all my heart God will completely answer that prayer.

Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.

Men, stop trying to do things in your own strength. We are weak, vulnerable and if you are like me, you fail a lot when you try to do it on your own. Maybe not today, but it is coming. Paul teaches in the New Testament, when we are weak, HE is made strong.

11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

12 O Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

This verse speaks for itself. No good thing will the LORD withhold from you men. Turn to Him walk uprightly and trust in HIM. Oh men, trust in the LORD! Let HIS word be food for your soul. Stop starving yourself spiritually and be fed and nourished on the word of God.
