Jesus Christ is the Great News!!

July 25, 2015

The quotes below are taking from Session 3 of Look at the Book with teacher John Piper, Romans 9. This was a powerful, heart stirring message that I could not resist sharing. There are some tough concepts and statements here, but it is all backed by the truth of God’s Word. The problem is we do not hear these truths often, so it may sting a bit. My hope and prayer is that it will drive you closer to Jesus Christ the Savior of the World!

Romans 3:23-26

23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

“Sin is what you do, when you are valuing anything more than God! Preferring anything to God.” John Piper

“Righteousness never, never, never passes over a God belittling sin without a payment. All wrongs will be righted; either on the cross or in hell. ” John Piper
I am sitting here today, living and breathing because of the righteousness of God, rather than in hell.
By His love, glory, grace, mercy and righteousness alone; am I sitting here typing this, seeing this, feeling this, breathing this air, feeling these tears run down my face. Nothing I did. Nothing I am going to do has saved me.
By God’s righteousness which was shown by the payment of Jesus on the cross. His blood was shed so that we may choose life or death. The free gift. You either accept it 100% or you deny it 100%. By denying you trample the precious blood of Jesus. You trample the righteousness of God. You trample the glory of God. And this according to Romans 1:18-23 is unrighteousness, wicked, rebellious and sinful and will be paid in full. God requires a payment for all sin.
Options for the payment of sin, are simple and easy. Jesus or hell.
Jesus is great news. It truly, truly is amazing news. Indescribable when compared to hell. Amidst this heavy message today, please seek, search and make sure you understand the great news of Jesus Christ.
May the Lord’s countenance be upon you.
