God’s Will 4 You

November 17, 2014

1 Peter 2:15-17 NLT

15 It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. 16 For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. 17 Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king.

Good Morning Men! God is so Good, He is so worthy of all our praise, and His mercy endures forever!

The above verse was a memory verse for me the other day, and it has been on my heart.

We all face decisions constantly, some are big, some are small, some are easy, some are very difficult. The christian way of handling decisions is to check with God, we want to know what God’s Will is for our lives. Right? Big and Small? If you are not in this habit, lets start practicing!

So here is one verse that gives us a window into the will of God.

V.15 God’s Will for all of us, is that our lives our honorable. That we live good lives, holy and blameless. This type of living is only perfected at death, so don’t feel unworthy or like you have to be at this level by next week.

We all can start with the basics; speak truth, be men of your word, filled with integrity, don’t allow foolish or perverted things to come out of your mouth…etc. The basics.

V.16 is very important for some of us, because we may have the tendency to try to justify certain behaviors. Common one I hear is; smoking weed is okay because it is natural and from the earth and God said all things He created are good.

All of that is true, except, for most of us to purchase weed, it is probably illegal. Which would break the commandment of obeying authority from Gods Word, or as we will see in the next verse about obeying the King.

V.17 These steps, or ways of living can pretty much sum up all our actions. If we are able to respect everyone (easier said then done, but nonetheless a commandment to obey), love our christian brothers (even some we may not agree with), and obey the King, (or the authorities that have been in place through our government) we are on the right track.

The last part of this is to fear God, without the fear of God we will truly never last in this type of living. We will become hypocrites and self-righteous.

Jesus must be at the center, the Will of God for our lives must be the ultimate desire. We must have the faith to say: I know I want, THIS, Lord; but let your will be done, not mine.

We must truly believe that God’s ways are truly higher than ours, and will always be better in the long run.

Fear God. Love Everyone. Obey the King. Seek God’s Will.

Amen!! There are so many times when I get discouraged b/c I’ve prayed and prayed for something and I feel like God’s not listening. How foolish am I. He’s listening alright and although I might think its perfect timing for whatever I’m praying for I need to remember that God’s timing is perfect and His will is far better and superior than mine. We must seek the will of God and put our faith and trust in Him.
