Is Your Path Well Lite?

2 Corinthians 6:1-2

We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says:

“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

I was reading this chapter this morning along with a commentary, and I was floored and moved that I didn’t make it past this verse. Let me share what I learned.

The first line calls us workers together with God. We must always remember that God does not need us. He chooses to use us to be a part of His Will. Why would He do this?

It is is so simple. God wants us with Him for OUR good! God’s will and His plan for you is the best thing for you. We as Christians get hung up here, because we wonder why things are not going our way. We keep trying to persuade God that we need our way.

Like selfish little children that think they know better than mom and dad. But mom and dad always know better, but there comes a point when mom and dad may say, okay if that is what you think you really want, then go for it. When you fall on your face, we will be here to scrape you up.

It’s because we are trying to do it our way, rather than God’s way. What we need to learn instead, is to seek God’s way, rather than persuading our way to Him.

The word “workers” used in this translation is a very accurate word that needs to describe our life as a Christian.

God calls us to be workers for Him and with Him. Whether we are the hardest workers in our jobs, in our families, in our church, and in our relationships. God wants us to labor for Him. His best comes through our labor for Him. We start going astray when the labor becomes for our glory, rather than for the glory of God.

So work for His Glory. Now let’s look at Grace.

Grace is undeserved favor. We don’t receive it because we deserve it, or because we earned it. His Grace flows into our lives because He loves us and  so that we will want more of Him.

If you are reading this, God’s grace is already at work in your life. Now it is up to you what you do with it. If you continue to labor for your will and your glory, this Grace is in vain. God has chosen an acceptable time for you to receive His Grace, and that time is now,  and today.

If this message is speaking to you, open your heart to God. Intentionally and diligently talk with Him. Spend time in His Word. The Psalmist wrote that His Word is a light to our feet, and a lamp to our path. If you are trying to find out what way to go, then it would help, for God to illuminate that path for you.

We will deviate, take wrong turns and even stumble off the path, but know that His Grace is available and the light to see comes from His Word.

Keep your heart open and pure and God’s spirit will stir your heart closer to HIM.

1 Corinthians 10:31 – Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

We must submit ourselves and our lives to the LORD and have faith that He will take care of us.
