The Intimacy of God

May 10, 2014

Psalm 33

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.

For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.

13 The Lord looks from heaven;
He sees all the sons of men.

15 He fashions their hearts individually;He considers all their works.

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy,
19 To deliver their soul from death,
And to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.
22 Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.

Reading through this amazing Psalm this morning I was blown away with many of the verses, especially the ones above.

Verses 6 and 7 blew me away thinking of the amazing power of God’s Word, His Breath and His Commands. Not only were things so majestic and mighty created, they are complete and “done”. There is no change needed.

Then in verses 13 and 15 we see the intimacy that God Almighty desires with all of us. God is not a statue, or some far away God that does not know the slightest needs or desires of our hearts! For those in this world that are living in darkness, it should be a shuddering thought to know that God, from Heaven sees ALL the sons of men and considers all the works of their hands. Many live with an illusion that there will be no consequences, and they can choose to live for themselves. This mindset couldn’t be farther from the truth.

However God desires all men to be saved ( 1 Tim. 2:4 ), here are a few practical steps towards an intimate, personal and everlasting relationship with the God whom has fashioned your heart individually!

He wants men to fear Him. This type of fear is reverent fear. One filled with the basic belief that God is real and that we will face Him one day.

He wants us to Hope in Him and His Mercy. This we can live out through prayer. Praying for His Mercy in our lives, giving us hope for this life and the next.

He wants us to wait on Him. As we all know, God doesn’t always move right away. His ways are higher and therefore we must trust in His Will on His timing.

He wants us to rejoice in Him. Rejoice in Him with song, with Words of Praise and thanksgiving and in the quietness of your heart.

Lastly, He wants us to trust in His holy name. His Name alone is an immovable Rock to those who run to it.

Seek and Desire the LORD with all your heart. HE is so worth it.

    Amen!!! I love verse 20 and how God is our help and our shield. It is so comforting to know this.
