Mercy and Forgiveness

April 28, 2014

Psalm 103:11-14

11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him
    is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
12 He has removed our sins as far from us
    as the east is from the west.
13 The Lord is like a father to his children,
    tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
14 For he knows how weak we are;
    he remembers we are only dust.

Yesterday I was having a talk with my daughter about her relationship with God, and she shared with me that she feels unworthy of God’s Love.

In God’s awesome Love and Glory this verse was brought to my attention.

Oh how amazing is His Love, His Mercy and Grace for “those who fear him”. This fear is not like the fear my daughter is struggling with. Her fear is pushing her away from God in guilt, that is the fear the devil wants you to have. God, wants us to have a reverent fear. A fear that is Holy and actually drives us closer to Him rather than away.

I know that my daughter is not the only one who has struggled with thoughts like this. Many of us do, or have. Verses like the one above need to be concrete anchors for our soul. To believe in God’s Words, God’s Promises and our relationship with Him!

Jesus came to earth and was fully God and fully man. Jesus knows how weak we are. God created us and therefore knows our frailties. We must know and accept that we are only from dust, and we will stumble, slip and fall. When you surrender your life to Jesus Christ you must know you are a blood bought child of Jesus Christ. We must never let our relationship waver because of these temporary external circumstances.

Confess your sins and weaknesses to God. Repent, or turn from these ways. Seek the Lord, Desire the Lord, Pray to the Lord and Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Thank you Lord for remembering how truly weak we are and still loving us unconditionally.
