God called you to do Good

July 26, 2013

1 Peter 2:21-25

21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

The-Passion-of-The-Christ_2

22 He never sinned,
    nor ever deceived anyone.
23 He did not retaliate when he was insulted,
nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God,
    who always judges fairly.
24 He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
    you are healed.
25 Once you were like sheep
    who wandered away.
But now you have turned to your Shepherd,
    the Guardian of your souls.

This passage moved my heart this morning because we all can relate to trials, persecution, oppression and being treated unjustly or unfairly.  Remember that Jesus Christ is our example, He is our King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Through Him we have the power of overcoming trials, through Him we have the power to do greater miracles than He did. But, we need the humble spirit He has. We need to remember that we are here to reach the lost and serve those that are less fortunate. We are here to shine His light in a dark world. We are called to be salt and light.

So as you face your trials remember that all are different and dynamic so seek God’s Wisdom and guidance in how to handle your situation. As you seek Him compare your thoughts and intended actions to the verses above. Are your actions, thoughts and mindset similar to those of Jesus? It will be difficult at times, but just as Christ suffered the ultimate price for us, we have freely gained the ultimate reward through HIM…forgiveness of sins and eternal life with HIM!

Praise God and to Him be all the Glory and all the Praise!

I love that last verse. Christ is the Guardian of our souls. My NKJV says Overseer of our souls. I once was lost but now I’m found. Once found, Christ will never leave us nor forsake us.
