Biblical Purpose

Ephesians 1:4

…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,…

BeforeTheWorld

This will be the first part of a little series on Biblical Purpose. Im going through a workbook titled Coaching for Life, Balancing Lifes Demands. Chapter two is about Biblical Purpose, and the first three verses to study and explain have really stirred my heart, so I needed to share it.

Have you ever been chosen for a team, a job, a project, or an assignment? Im sure all of us have at some point been chosen for something. It feels good right? Well God has chosen every single one of us, and according to the verse we were chosen by Him, the Creator of all things way before the World; well, was the World.

In verse 3 of this chapter it says that every spiritual blessing was given to us so we should be holy and without blame. It says in verse 8 that we have been showered with wisdom and understanding by His kindness. What does that mean? It means that through Christ we have every tool necessary to be successful in this life.

Not successful by the Worlds standards, but successful by God’s mysterious will, according to His purpose, and to ultimately bring God Almighty the pleasure He desires from our lives.

So dont ever listen to the lie of the devil that you are insignificant, unworthy, too much of a sinner or anything like that. Rather believe that you have been chosen by God, so that by His good pleasure you will live the life He has purposed you for.

There are so many times that I feel unworthy to come before God in prayer, or to call upon His name, or even to open His Word which is true and holy. But thanks be to God that through Christ Jesus I can come boldly before Him for He has “predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will” (Ephesians 1:5).

God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty (1 Corinthians 1:27). I’ve always loved this verse. Whenever Satan puts doubts or fears in my heart and mind this verse comforts me.
