Who do you live for?

March 25, 2013

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

To crucify someone is: to put (a person) to death by nailing or binding to a cross. To mortify or subdue (the flesh).  To treat cruelly; torment: crucified the awkward child with teasing. To criticize harshly; pillory; according to thefreedictionary.com.
In Luke 14:27, Jesus says;
And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
Carrying the cross was part of the crucifixion process. So Jesus is telling us here the same thing here in Luke, as Paul was in Galatians. Is this an easy task? Absolutely not, Jesus never said it would be easy. But it is essential in order to truly walk with Jesus.
Why is this so important?
Well Jesus calls us in Mark 16:15, to live out what is also known as the Great Commission.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
We all have different callings. Some of us will literally be called across the World, but most of us are called to start right where we are. The problem happens when you haven’t crucified the desires of your heart, on that cross. You see it is impossible to please God, by pleasing ourselves.
So I want to challenge you to look deep in your heart and throughout all your desires. From the greatest to the least of them. What desires align with God’s Word? Or in other words, what desires are fully intended to bring God all the Glory? And which desires are for your own personal advancement, success or gain? Be honest with yourself, or it’s pointless, and remember:
People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. Proverbs 16:2

    Mathew 6:25: Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

    Mathew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

    If we deny ourselves and seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, God will take care of us. It’s a promise from God and God’s promises never fail.

    • Amen, Amen! I love those scriptures. The bummers for us is our nature has allowed us to always fail on our word. Thus doubting the integrity and power of a promise from God. Thank you Father that unlike us, your Word Never Fails!!
