Lets strengthen our Marriages!

If you dont know already, I am very passionate about seeing men step into deeper, more intimate relationships with Christ. I am equally passionate about seeing men become better husbands and fathers. In our Bible Study group we are reading the book Man Alive, by Patrick Morley. Here are ten points I want to share with all of you, that the author shares with us, on how to really love a woman, a.k.a your wife (or future wife)!

Ephesians 5:25

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her …

1. Pray with your Wife

I love when people tell me they have been praying for me, especially when I know they mean it and actually have been. I want my wife to feel that, and see how much I truly love her, cherish her and want her to be the best her, so I am going to try and pray with her daily.

2. Pray for your Wife

The most important, difficult, and rewarding relationship we will face is our marriage. Our prayers need to be sincere, geniune and filled with love. Take the verse above literal!

3. Spend time with Her Alone

How we spend our time, reveals what is really important in our lives.

4. Listen deeply, without a quick reply

James 1:19, says: Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.

As Patrick Morley says in the book: “Listening deeply requires that we dont respond to quickly, dont criticize, and dont give advice unless the other person asks for it. (Everyone dreads being fixed.) Listening lubricates marriage and cuts down on friction.”

5. Touch Her

Geniune intimacy can come from nonsexual touching. Our wives are like Crock Pot’s, slow to warm, but once they are warm they can stay warm for a long time!

6. Accept Her Unconditionally

Just as Jesus Christ paid the price for all of us on the cross, and God the Father accepts all of us just as we are, we must love and accept our wives just as they are.

7. Encourage Her with Words

Take advantage to express appreciation whenever possible. Verbal affirmation at every oppurtunity will create a positive environment. Or as Patrick Morley says, “Encouragement is the food of the heart, and every heart is a hungry heart.”

8. Take care of Her Financially

Work Hard. Livin within your means, developing a lifestyle that can be supported without you…because nobody is promised tommorrow.

9. Laugh with Her

Who doesnt like to laugh? Stop taking everything so serious and make her laugh more, if thats not your thing; then do things where you guys can laugh together.

10. After God, but before all others, Make your Wife your Top Priority

When God is truly first in our lives, everything else will start to line up. We can then focus on the most influential and important earthly relationship we have.

Success comes from being intentional. Be intentional about your marriage and watch God strengthen and bless the most important relationship in your life.

  5. These are truly great means of having and maintaining a wonderful marriage. And, they are good ways to act and think even when you don’t feel like it. It’s like the deal with money. Where your treasure is there will be your heart also. Treat her with love and love will be there.

    • Amen Ron! We are so blessed to have such great teachers all around us to learn and grow from.
What an amazing blessing we have to see our wives as our second most important treasure…
