Nibble of Bread : The last days?

February 7, 2013

Luke 12:56

You fools! You know how to interpret the weather signs of the earth and sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the present times.

Have you listened to the news lately? In any state, nation or continent there are massive events taking place. From almost daily earthquakes worldwide, to 6o,000 deaths in Syria over the last two years, shootings in American schools, to 5-year-old girls getting beaten and raped by their own father because their virginity was in question. Or how about the intensifying moral persecution of Christians in our nation? Atheist and homosexuals are increasingly pushing us into corners calling us bigots, extremists and radicals (2 Timothy 3:1-9).

Is this normal behavior? Absolutely not. Some could argue that we have always been under these types of evil behaviors, but now we have more media accessibility. Or you could argue that there are spiritual battles taking on greater intensity, because the ruler of this World (satan) knows his time is coming to a close (Ephesians 6:12).

However you want to spin it, understand that God is full of Justice, Mercy and Love and He is not happy. Earlier in Chapter 12 Jesus says blessed are those who are watching, who are ready, and whose lamps are burning. For those that are not prepared shall be beaten with many stripes and cut in two (Luke 12:46-47). Pretty harsh, I know, but Jesus said it not me.

Wars and rumors of wars (Mark 13:7); Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom (Mark 13:8); Earthquakes in various places and famines and troubles (Mark 13:8); Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child (Mark 13:12); Children will rise up against parents (Mark 13:12); You will be hated by all for My name’s sake (Mark 13:13).

In my opinion we are definitely in the “end times.” You can’t read these verses and not think that Christ is coming soon. Praise God that Christ is coming back to rescue us from this Earth. For he who endures to the end shall be saved (Mark 13:13). I pray we all stay strong in the LORD and endure for blessed is the man who preservers under trial because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12).

    • Thank You for sharing those powerful verses!

Its crazy how we can hear of things happening around the world, and how it can be so troubling to our soul. If we hurt this bad, how bad is God hurting? Pretty heavy…
