Nibble of Bread : I ate with Jesus!

February 3, 2013

Acts 10:41-42

40 but God raised him to life on the third day. Then God allowed him to appear, 41 not to the general public, but to us whom God had chosen in advance to be his witnesses. We were those who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

The disciples had an awesome purpose in life. Their purpose carried many benefits, and many difficult obstacles and challenges. One of the greatest experiences they had aside from being with Jesus Christ was to witness Him as restored and resurrected, eat with Him and talk with Him after He was brutally tortured and crucified on the cross.

Jesus appeared to Mary after His resurrection (Mark 16:9), Jesus also appeared to His disciples (Luke 24:36-43), and just in case that was not enough Jesus revealed himself to more than 500 people (1 Corinthians 15:6).

These men and women not only witnessed Jesus, they ate with Jesus; was it for their benefit? Not completely, but God uses us through the Words of our testimony. Many will doubt and discredit the words of our testimony. But the few that listen will reap the joy, peace and salvation that only come through knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

Although we cannot physically eat in the presence of Jesus, we can enter into His presence through the Power of His Word. By getting our hearts right with Him, we can pray and allow God to open our hearts and minds to His truth. To expose the blindness, and bondage in our lives. So we can be set free. As God set’s us free from the things (sin) that entangle our lives, we can become walking lamps to others, sharing our testimony of deliverance, redemption and salvation.

Amen!!! I pray that the LORD, through His Holy Spirit, will give us courage and strength to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).
