Nibble of Bread : Guardrails for your Life

January 21, 2013

Psalm 103:17-18

But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

Through divine interpretation of the Spirit of God living inside of  King David he has given us a powerful glimpse of how beneficial a lifestyle serving God is, and not only beneficial to ourselves but to our children, and future grand children. As a father this is important to me, as Im sure any of you other fathers can agree. We have to ask ourselves, what are we teaching our children? What legacy’s are we passing on? Is what we are teaching them able to go from everlasting to everlasting?

The definition of everlasting is an eternal duration, eternity or never coming to an end. That is something that is actually impossible for us to even comprehend in this life. How can we understand something that last from eternity to eternity, or something that never has an end, something no one living has ever experienced?

Yet, God’s loving-kindness,, forgiveness, compassion, love and mercy have this eternal duration. But there are a few steps in order to attain this impact in our lives, it is there and attainable to all, but in order to truly see it in your life and the lives of your children we must Fear God. We must fear the reality of His judgement someday, which in turn is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7). Now on this foundation we can build, we build by living by his promises, we live by following His word and commands in our lifestyle. And rather than looking at His commands as chains, look at them as guardrails for your life. Keeping you from harm, and foolish mistakes and decisions.

So start building your foundation today. Seek God, Ask God to help you. We dont have to be Bible educated to do this, we dont need to know everything. We just ned to get our heart in the right place, repent of your sin and pride, and ask. Be patient, but persistent and He will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not understand (Jeremiah 33:3).

I like that statement that God’s commands are not chains but guardrails for our lives. And boy do I need them. Amen brother K!!

    • Yeah I heard that in a sermon once. I really love that analogy. You know first hand how I had no guardrails protecting me through college, and have to look back in how wrong and foolish I was, major regrets in the lifestyle choices I made. But Praise God we got those guardrails now, so we dont continue in destructive behavior. We all really need them brother! Blessings!
