Nibble of Bread : Are you Blind?

December 27, 2012

John 18:28

28 Jesus’ trial before Caiaphas ended in the early hours of the morning. Then he was taken to the headquarters of the Roman governor. His accusers didn’t go inside because it would defile them, and they wouldn’t be allowed to celebrate the Passover.

Being physically blind is one thing, because it is pretty obvious. The blind man knows he is blind, and when I see a blind man I know he is blind. But when we are spiritually blind, how do we know?

The only way to really know is by testing everything against the Word of God. We don’t try to measure up against others. We don’t try to imagine in our own heads, if we measure up to God by our own standards. That is why it is so important to not just read our Bible, but to actually apply it in our lives.

These men, Jesus’s accusers, they knew God’s Word (which was only the Old Testament at the time). In fact they were “specialist” in God’s Word. They truly felt they were defending God’s Word by nailing Jesus to that cross. They had great intentions, but very bad execution!

I challenge you to look into your life, into your walk with Christ. Be completely honest with yourself, and test yourself against God’s Word. And When, because we all fall short, so when you realize you need some changes, just work on it. Little by little. God’s grace is sufficient for us, there is no condemnation in Jesus Christ. So don’t go feeling guilty, and don’t allow the devil to tell you that you are not good enough. Just believe that He is Lord, make sure you have confessed Him as your Lord and Savior and asked Him into your heart. Then repent. Start turning from those ways that don’t align with God’s Word.

21 Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts. 1 John 5:21
