Nibble of Bread : I am with you Always

November 28, 2012

Matthew 28:20

20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Can any of us make a statement like that: “I am with you always”?

Not in our wildest dreams. We all may have said stuff like, If you need anything call me. Or if you ever need help call me. However after we make statements like that, there would have been many times where we physically would not have been able to help, or be there for those people.

Why? Cause we are human, and humans can’t keep promises like that.

My friends, Jesus can. We may not be able to see Jesus, feel Jesus, or have a normal conversation with Jesus. Yet, He is so real.

The other night I was having some challenges and I was hurting big time. I needed Jesus so bad. I put my kids to sleep, and went walking down the road. I began crying out to God that I need Him. I really, really needed Him. At least 20 minutes went by. I wasn’t really asking to hear Him or see Him, I just wanted to be filled with the peace, love and joy that only He can give. Then He whispered two things to my heart. Two things that only He would bring up, not even my own thoughts were in this arena at the time. As these two things began filling my heart with peace and joy, I looked up and in the sky there was a bunch of clouds. In the middle of the clouds there was a heart-shaped opening. As clear as day, I was overwhelmed with Joy, more than these words can say.

I share that story because Jesus is always there. We may not think so at times. But He is always there.

Earnestly cry out to Him, with all your heart, lay everything before Him, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Then wait and listen,

“Be still and know that I am God!” (Psalm 46:10).
