Malachi 3,4:

3 – Powerful chapter with two main themes that I saw. Tithing and Judgement. Tithing is very important to God, not because He needs our money, but because it truly reflects our hearts. Money is something many of us have a hard time letting go of. But God says “Try it! Put me to the test!” Thats the only time I believe God says to test Him, because elsewhere it says do not test the Lord your God. But when it comes to tithing, when it comes to testing Him in our acts of faith here, God says bring it on!

16-18 – These verses are beautiful and encouraging. What we need to remember is that our faithfulness towards God is not only remembered but it is recorded!

4 – Short but powerful chapter. Judgement day is inescapable for all, and it is rapidly approaching with each passing second as we get older. Lets turn from our arrogant and wicked ways, and in turn live a life that leads others to do the same.

4:2 – I think it is actually really obvious to see who are the people who truly fear the name of God. Our actions towards ourselves, our families and the people around us are truly ways to see how much we actually fear God. Because if you believe in Him, then you believe that He is all-knowing and all-powerful. All knowing means He knows everything you did, everything you’re doing, and everything your going to do. So if are actions are not pleasing to Him, and we don’t repent…yikes.

4:6 – I learned in a sermon that this verse in the greek is that : His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers with their children, and the hearts of children with their fathers. That is so powerful. We as fathers are supposed to have a generational impact of teaching our kids the ways of our Lord. Of course we have to live it first, so that our children will desire the same good, wholesome relationship with God Almighty.

Psalm 148:

I got to thinking while reading this. When God talks of all beings, animals, weather and even hills and mountains; I really got to thinking about heaven. That everything is heaven will just radiate His glory. Everything will be so indescribably beautiful, words can’t express it. Or animals, and vegetation will either speak, or just be so alive with the glory of God. I know there is scripture that mentions something about this. I need to find it and fill you guys in. Praise the Lord!

Acts 5:

1-11 – Love for money and praise from others become God for Ananias and Sapphira. They lied to the Holy Spirit, which is lying to God. God made an example of them, there is great danger in living this type of lifestyle.

12-14 – The apostles and other believers were so filled with the love of God, and living according to the Word of God that even non-believers held them in high regards. It is definitely not like that today, we are viewed (and rightly so) as hypocrites, phony’s and weirdo’s. But if we truly live how God teaches us through the word of God, we could have the same results and impact as the early church of Acts.

15 – Same power that conquered the grave, lives in us!

19-20 – Nobody or nothing can stand in God’s way.

29-32 – This is powerful truth. But in verse 32 it says that the Holy Spirit is given to those that obey God. So it is very safe to say that anyone living in disobedience to God, does not have the Holy Spirit and should not be treated as someone speaking of the Spirit. Rather they need prayer, that God will open their eyes and they will repent.

35-37 – Here are a couple of examples, of Jesus im-posters, or wannabes. The devil is always out to discredit Jesus. But there is only one Messiah!

41-42 – what a powerful mindset. May God bless His church, people and body with this type of heart and faith for our Lord!!

  1. How true, your comment on: vv. 12-14 – “The apostles and other believers were so filled with the love of God, and living according to the Word of God that even non-believers held them in high regards. It is definitely not like that today, we are viewed (and rightly so) as hypocrites, phony’s and weirdo’s. But if we truly live how God teaches us through the word of God, we could have the same results and impact as the early church of Acts.” You are so on target. The book “unChristian,” a Barna study by David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons, spells out research on the way Christians are viewed today. According to the reasearch people outside the church describe Christians as: antihomosexual 91%; judgmental 87%; hypocritical 85%; old-fashoned 78%; too political 75%; out of touch with reality 72%; insensitive to others 70%; and boring 68%. How sad is that? What matters is demonstrating love. Then maybe non-believers will come to see the Savior through us. Anyway, thanks tons for your devotionals.

    • Thank you so much for your insight Ron. I see it way too much within my own church and it breaks my heart.

That book you mentioned sounds interesting. Very sad and disappointing statistics. But as you said we need to live how God teaches us.

That is truly my hearts desire, to see more people striving to be like Christ.

      God Bless you Ron!
