Nibble of Bread: Malachi 3:10

Be a Giver

Malachi 3:10

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

I love this verse! God is saying try me, test me.

What area do you struggle with in your life to give freely? Is it money? Time? Love? Or maybe patience? We all have an area that is difficult for us but we must learn to trust in God’s promises. The Bible also says as you freely receive, freely give. As the Bible says many times throughout, everything we have is from the Lord. So why is it so hard to give God what is actually His? We are just temporary residents here on earth, everything we have is loaned out to us so we can bring all honor and glory to God. God doesn’t need our time or money, that’s not whats helping Him pay His mortgage. God commands us to be givers because it changes our mindset and our hearts. When we not only recognize this type of giving, but live it. God can truly move and work through us, in order that everything we do, will have His blessing and touch on it. When we resist, God can’t work through us because He is still working on us. Seek God daily to soften your heart. Beg Him to let your heart be moldable so that you have a desire to give more than you receive.

I like that brother K (“everything we have is loaned out to us so we can bring all honor and glory to God.”) You hit the nail on the head with that one. It is so easy to forget that everything we have in life is a gift and blessing from God. It wasn’t as a result of our efforts or how hard we have worked (although we may think this). It’s all b/c of the LORD and that is why we should always give HIM all glory, honor and praise for everything we have in life. I like this verse b/c God is telling us to test Him in our tithes and offerings and see what He will do. He will not only bless us, but he’ll bless us so much we won’t be able to contain it. Such an amazing verse.
