Nibble of Bread: Matthew 22:37

Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:37

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

The next few weeks is going to be a series, dedicated to the vows (which can be found here) that I made with God, that actually were the starting blocks of this website and ministry. I feel God has stirred my heart to get back to the basics and foundation of the vision He placed on my heart. I know this series will bless you if you not only read it, but actually hear it, and apply it in your lives.

This verse at first glance seems so basic. But if you really apply it into your life it can get very complexed, and even challenging for many of us. The problem starts when we face those complexities, or  challenges. What do we normally do, we’ll I can only speak for myself and that is to follow the path of least resistance. The bummer is; that is usually not where God is. This command is so great because we have been breed, taught and brainwashed into thinking: you can do it, just believe in yourself, or you can be anything just put your mind to it. Yes those are true but notice the main ingredient missing is God. We need to learn to salt every decision, and action with God. Such as; would this action please God? Or defame Him? Are these thoughts pleasing to God, or are they crippling my heart? Am I doing this for my benefit, or the benefit of someone else? (Which of course follows the second greatest commandment) Lets start making a practice of salting every thing we do with God. Just as a good steak needs salt, so does every thought and action in our lives need God providing the main flavor.
