2 Kings 24:

We have been reading of all the words God has spoken to the people of Judah through Jeremiah the prophet. These words were not empty threats as this chapter shows us. Verses 2-4 are very descriptive and accurate of how God’s word never wavers. We need to always bank on the truth in God’s word. Bank on the truth behind eternal judgement and condemnation if we do not serve and follow Him according to the Bible. But also bank on His promises of deliverance, protection, love, grace and mercy when He is the only God in our lives.

Jeremiah 22:

3-5: Many of us our leaders, whether at home, at work or in life. This passage gives examples of how to be a Godly leader. They were spoken to the King of Judah, but God wants us all to live this way. When we don’t we will face destruction. Just as God promised to destroy that palace He will destroy our palaces. Which are basically anything that we put our hope, comfort and faith in over God.

18-21: Selfishness is the worst cancer for your soul. These verses illustrate how the selfish disobedience of the King destroyed, defamed and demoralized him.

30: This verse shows how this same selfishness, which is disobedience to God will not only affect and destroy our lives and souls, but it will ruin our kids. Our kids will follow our lead and example.

Psalm 112:

Verse 4 tells us how our actions can bring light to the darkest situations. Our world is full of evil and darkness, we are supposed to be the torch bearers of the everlasting light of Jesus Christ. We need to learn to succeed with this in our lives so it can be passed into the lives of others that desperately need the love and light of Jesus Christ.

5-6 : By being a giver we avoid many selfish evils. God commands us to be givers, when we avoid this commandment we are welcoming all types of wrong into our lives that will separate us from the love of Jesus Christ.

7-9 : When God is truly the frontrunner of our lives we have no fear and no worries. If we say it but don’t fully believe it then trouble, trials and challenges will beat, batter and knock us down.

John 18:

Many different prophecies, and scriptures were proven and came true in this chapter. Again confirming God’s ever faithful wisdom and faithfulness to His Word. Verse 28 broke my heart in several directions. The spiritual blindness of these men was staggering. In order to uphold their religious practices they avoid this personal defilement. But avoiding this defilement at the expense of accusing, crucifying and murdering the savior of the world? What is so sad and scary is that this type of blindness is still very prevalent today. Our lives are to be filled with love, not sacrifices, rules or traditions. Yes, those things do have their place but not at the expense of love. Love must always come first or the sacrifice is void and empty.
