Nibble of Bread : John 15:8

Fruit of Jesus

John 15:8

When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my  Father.

The Bible says a tree is known by its fruit, what kind of fruit does your tree produce? Right now is mango season in Hawaii, everyone that loves mangoes knows what mangoes are the best. You know what that type of mango is called, where those trees are, what color the mangoes are when they are ripe and mango lovers truly treasure those good mangoes. Our fruit must be like those treasured mangoes. There is no other way to accomplish this but to remain in the love of Jesus. According to this chapter, in order to remain in Jesus we must: obey His commands (all of them, not just the easy ones), keep His words in us(the Bible), love others in the same way he loved us (died on the cross for our sins). Not only do we please God with our actions this way, but we bring glory to our Father which in turn overflows into the lives of people around us that need the love and joy of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is so much good stuff in this chapter. It is almost overwhelming. A branch that does not produce fruit is cut off to make room for a new branch or existing branches to grow. I’ve noticed when I’m doing yard work and pulling weeds or trimming my palms the plants and trees grow better once the dead branches are removed. There is no useful purpose for the dead branches. Before Jesus ascended into heaven he commanded his disciples (and us) to go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:19, 20 NKJV). I pray we all carry out this command and make disciples and produce much fruit.

    • So true, without pruning the whole tree or vine can strangle itself.

I support you and stand in agreement with that prayer!
