Jeremiah 1:
Verses 7-8 speaks into every believers heart. We need to believe in the call that God has for our life. None of us will be adequate or capable according to the world’s standards. That’s why we cannot lean on our own understanding, or the way we have been taught things are supposed to be. With God anything is possible.
I like verses 17-18 they are some great guidelines that we should follow when standing up to God’s call in our lives. You can take these verses and apply them to the situation God is calling you to, or God already has you in. God wants all of us to be strong fortified cities so that we can bring Him glory and spread His gospel to the ends of the earth.
Then verse 19 backs us up with God’s word. No matter where we go, or what we do we will face opposition. But leaning on God and banking on His promises teaches us to depend on Him and grow in His mercy and love.
Jeremiah 2:
This chapter mentions twice how abandoning God is evil (verses 13 & 19), we must always be on our guard and always strive to grow closer to God. This is necessary to not fall prey to our own flesh and begin pleasing ourselves and the world rather than God Almighty.
Verses 23-37, God is speaking to His people as if they are His bride. God does this many times throughout the Bible, the church is the bride. But what is so amazing to me is that we are looked at in this way. The love a groom has for His wife is normally immeasurable. The groom is anxiously anticipating and awaiting his wedding day, to be united with His wife for the rest of his life. He cannot wait to see her dressed in her beautiful gown, spotless, without blemish. Basically the groom will see his bride with the intense beauty radiating from every part of her. That is truly amazing to think God refers to His people as the bride. What a deep and intense love that I’m pretty sure must of us still cannot fathom or understand completely.
John 10:
Without Jesus we are nothing and have nothing.
