Nahum 1-3:

Heavy book of God’s wrath towards the city of Nineveh. The thing that enraptured my thoughts throughout this whole chapter was how this transpired after Jonah’s message? For those of you unfamiliar with that, Jonah was a man sent to Nineveh, by God to tell the city to repent of their ways. With a lot of resistance Jonah finally did, but the city repented. According to the dates in my Bible Jonah did this before Nahum wrote this book. So what I’m wondering is; did Nineveh repent during Jonah’s time, then go back to their old ways?

John 5:

Verses 3-6 stood out to me that Jesus knows our hearts. He knows those that truly want healing, and will seek healing through Him and because of that He will reach out to those. Everyone has the potential, but it takes some of us more preparation of the heart. Some hearts are a little more hard and resistant, therefore needing more preparation. But without that preparation, the touch of Jesus will go unnoticed.

Verses 16-17 was some nice guidance for me. Something I strongly lack is honoring the sabbath. I have been trying to make this a priority and obey this command from God but I have not been consistently successful. But in trying to piece together this command it’s nice to know that God’s work is not considered work. God’s work when rooted in Love is not Love. What I’m learning is that anything that honors ourselves is work that should cease on the sabbath. But the work that honors The Father, is never to be ceased.
