Isaiah 46:

This chapter goes through the emptiness of worshipping an idol God. I have really been trying to rack my brain and compare the idols we worship today. They are very different in nature, but we still have many idols today…try think of a few.

Isaiah 47:

Isaiah 48:

This chapter had me thinking how amazing it must have been for Isaiah. He was so in-tuned with God that every Word of God was like a clear story book. It says in 2 Timothy that all scripture is God breathed, or inspired by God through men. Could you imagine being that close to God? Having that kind of relationship that you could just write pages of His exact words. The cool thing is it is possible to bring God this much glory, God longs for this type of closeness with us. It just takes work.

Isaiah 49:

Verses 1-7 speaks of Jesus and the great and powerful things He always will be. My study Bible says that verse 6 is known as the Great Commission of the Old Testament, which will be fulfilled when the gospel has reached all corners of the earth.

1 Peter 5:

Verse 3 made me think of this verse relating to fathers also. As a father we can sometimes bully our way through our wife and kids (at least I know I do at times). We must rebuke and avoid this type of behavior. We must truly be filled with the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22) towards our family and lead by example. I know the way I act to my daughter sometimes when I am upset, I wouldn’t do it to anyone else. So why should I do that to her? Father, please humble me and forgive me. Amen.

Verse 5-6 speak of humbleness. In order to submit to authorities in and out of the church we must truly humble ourselves. It is wise to do so because as this text says, God opposes pride.

Verse 7-8 By giving your worries to God you allow less areas for the devil to tempt, distract and deceive you. By staying alert you must be in constant prayer and fellowship with God. We must be in our Word daily so that we can grow and be convicted of our wrongs and faults. In this way we will have a better chance at recognizing Satan’s work, standing firm and fighting back with the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17).
