Notes from todays reading.

2 Chronicles 29-31:

29:6 -7 King Hezekiah obviously had some changes after the destruction King Ahaz caused to God’s people. But what this verse showed me was that when we worship other things (hobbies, cars, jobs, Facebook, ourselves) God gets slowly substrates out of every picture. Until He is completely removed and blocked out.

31:21 – Whole-Hearted devotion to God will never go unnoticed.

James 4:

Pretty cool but heavy chapter, this really singles out the evil at the root of our hearts. We definitely have a daily battle to face, but Praise God for the spirit of overcoming!
Verse 4- teaches us that we are called to be different, more Christ-Like. I actually find joy when the guys at work tease me because of my walk, or faith, even my actions. I find joy knowing that I am standing in the gap between Christ and a lost world.
Verse 9-10 may seem a little weird but this type of heart or mindset is truly what leads people to God. When everything is good in our lives we have no need for God. We are comfortable in our success. But in heavy times we realize we need more, a higher power; God Almighty!
I love verse 11b, kind of the mindset I’m working on having with things, especially work. Just shut-up and do what you know you need to do. Thats a motto I’m trying to live by.The difference is with God we bring Him glory when we do what we need to do.
