Notes from todays reading.

Isaiah 22:

This chapter displays the lack of fear in God and the ignorance to continue in sin rather than repentance and seeking God with whole-hearted devotion. Verses 12-14 shows God’s heart, and how he desires all people to turn to Him and repent from their worldly ways. I listened to a sermon yesterday about giving and wealth. The case being argued that wealth is not bad. But the Bible teaches us that wealth is not bad in and of itself but the desire for wealth can be a trap. A trap that causes people to lean more on accomplishments, materials and falsely perceived security (1 Timothy 6:7-10). God expresses for the people then and now, turn away from worldly comforts and truly turn to Him.

Verses 15-25 describe God’s ability to appoint and demote according to His will. God desires whole-hearted devotion rooted in justice and righteousness. Even Eliakim was appointed and rooted in righteousness. But what this text is seeming to imply is that Eliakim possibly didnt withstand to the end. We must be unwavering in our faith. We must withstand through the good times and the bad, purifying ourselves constantly. Or even the Godly can be uprooted.

Isaiah 23:

Verses 8-9 give  a glimpse of how God will destroy all Pride, Nation and People alike. Pride is the sin the uproots people from leaning on God. Therefore this sin brings forth no compassion from our God. But true repentance from pride, brings the unmeasurable grace and mercy overflowing into our lives.

Verses 15-18 show how the wealth of the wicked will always flow back into God’s kingdom. God loves rich people. Rich people who give whole-heartedly with open hands to the Kingdom of God.

Isaiah 24:

The Book of Eli was a cool movie for several reasons. One entertaining, two because of the biblical ties that it had. Where do you think the ideas of that movie came from? Whether the producer actually knew it or not, there was a lot there that is biblical. This chapter reminded me of that movie. We all believe the Word of God, and everything in it. So when we read verses like “The Lord is about to destroy the earth” we have to take it to heart and live with that burning in our hearts. The writing is on the wall, our nation is in the dumps, our world is in the dumps. Verses 5-6 were real then and are real now. The human race has destroyed the purity and instruction of God’s desires. Judgement is real for individuals and the earth as a whole. I pray all of you read this chapter and realize that we are living in the end times and God’s judgement is upon the world.

Hebrews 12:

God’s Word is powerful, and really blowing me away today. So much in this chapter to write about…Wow! Going to just use my Bible notes so it’s short but everything gets touched on.

Verses 1-4 – Our heavenly support is in place. Stay focused on JESUS!

Verses 6-8 – God’s discipline is good for our souls.

Verse 11-13 – Benefits of Discipline.

Verse 14-15 – WORK at it!

Verse 25 – God speaks to us all. We must obey ALL.

Verses 26-29 – Build Unshakable Faith!
