Notes from todays reading.
Hosea 6-9:
6:6 – This verse is repeated many times throughout the Bible. It is a very real and true statement from the mouth of God. God truly desires our love for Him more than anything else. This also means showing love for others, especially when it is inconvenient to us. Many times I have been convicted of this verse with simple things. There were many times when I woke up early to do my devotion but my son would wake up, or my wife would need my help with something. At first I would be upset, thinking that I need to read. That God needs me to get in His word and grow closer to Him. There was a period of time where I really struggled with this…until this verse came along. Very convicting, very humbling. Our acts of Love to others mean more than making sacrifices to be Holy. Genuine love is the truest act of holiness. Thats why the word says that God is Love.
7:2 – Most of the versions I checked say that “I will remember all their wickedness”, which is pretty heavy but the NLT Bible says “I am watching them” and “I see them all”. The God of the universe watches and see all, he remembers all. When you live how the Word of God guides us to live there is nothing to fear, but when you dont…it can be pretty scary reading a verse like this. Growing up boys always push the limits, personally I was always doing something I was not supposed to be cause I knew my parents couldn’t see me. Sometimes I would get caught and suffer the consequences, but many times I escaped unscathed. But with God every action, word and deed will be brought into the light. I pray we all live in a way that doesn’t have anything to hide.
Hebrews 3:
Within this short chapter the mention of a hard heart was cited 5 times. Thats a pretty clear indication of the message the author is trying to get across. The author also has every right to repeat this message. Personally I’m always praying that God keeps my heart soft and moldable. When something is difficult for me such as genuinely loving difficult people God convicts me to show love. Every ounce of me wants to ignore God, and act like He really wont mind if this one time I just ignore Him. But what I’m doing is dangerous. I’m forming a callous over my heart that in time will continue until my entire heart has hardened over.
man, Hosea 6:6 (NLT) gotta love that Our Father GOD ALMIGHTY desires a relationship with us. Father help me to not get distracted and to busy to come sit at your feet, in Jesus Name amen.
I love the humble heart. Help us all to not be to B.U.S.Y. (burdened under satans yoke) to sit at your feet Lord!
