Notes from todays reading.

2 Kings 11:

As human beings we can be such procrastinators and slackers, and if your neither than we are definitely selfishly driven. Our society definitely does not help us break out of these un-biblical characteristics either. These human traits that are in all of us in some way, in some shape and in some form is the reason we need structure or commitment in our lives. Verse 17 was an example of Jehoiada realizing that the people of Judah need not only to get back on track but they need something that binds them. When something binds us we are more likely to uphold the correct standard.

We all need to find ways to bind us to God, His Word and Prayer. We need to make sure that we remain within God’s grace. We never want it to become a routine job, or a drag in order to pursue God, so we must stay creative. This is the same mindset that spurred on this website, it takes a covenant, an oath or a challenge. However you want to look at it. Without something binding us there is a high probability we will have a roller coaster relationship with God. Or we will fizzle out completely. Challenge yourself to be great with God.

2 Kings 12:

2 Chronicles 24:

1 Timothy 6:

All of us desire more money in some way. Some of us obviously have bigger problems with this than others. But no matter how bad we are, we need to be careful and conscious of the evil that the love of money can lead us too. I have learned that is why tithing is so important. God doesn’t need our money. If we tithe what we are supposed to tithe, or what God leads you to tithing; our money is not what is keeping God in business. God is the Great I AM. He don’t need us or our money, but by tithing he can see our heart towards money. Do we value it more than Him? Do we say we trust God, but deep inside we are afraid to tithe for lack of shortage? God is not about dollar signs, He is about the heart. Where is your heart at? Kinda like that saying, I think its a gambling saying: “put your money where your mouth is”.
