Ecclesiastes 4:

God is Good! So Good. The first thing I want to point out about this chapter is that many of the behaviors throughout, resemble lives without Christ. We as Christians or believers in the Gospel are to live lives that rise above these types of human behaviors. For example in Verse 1 it says that oppressed people have tears and no one to comfort them. Doesnt the Word say that God is our comforter? In case you didn’t know it does say that, in fact it says that He comforts us, so we can comfort others; check 2 Corinthians 1:4. So don’t bask in your sorrows, find comfort in the King of Kings through His Word, through whole-hearted prayer and through our daily lives in worship!
Verse 4 speaks of coveting, pride, and jealousy all-in-one! When we live to please God, when we seek to please Him above all things, this does not happen. We will not fall victim to these destructive behaviors.
How bout verse 12, anyone catch how three are better than two? We serve the only God. We serve the Triune God. Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Praise God!
Finally the final passage mentions that an old foolish king who refuses advice. Have you noticed the older people get, the more stuck in their ways they get? We all can fall guilty to this, but it gets worse with age. Not only Kings will suffer a prideful heart that hates advice, we all can suffer from this sinful temptation. So start now, learn to be the river not the rock in the river!
