Notes from todays reading.

Proverbs 7:

Another Proverb of Adultery. My favorite line in this proverb is in verse 22. Like an ox going to the slaughter.

When an Ox is going to be slaughtered there is nowhere to run, he is in some type of cage until he is killed. He knows his time has come, its death before death in a sense. As I explained in yesterdays message of Proverbs 5, danger is lurking just outside of our view. Married men will lose everything. Single men that get involved in these type of relationships open up a whole world of hurt for themselves. The command of abstaining from sex until marriage, and then remaining faithful in that relationship is a command put there to protect us. Most of us probably blew it there, now we have the baggage to deal with. But the key is to teach our children how to avoid the same mistakes we made. It wont be easy in today’s world of casual sex, but it is necessary.

Proverbs 8:

Verses 6-8 gives us a way to spot out wisdom. Sometimes we have a decision to make. We may pray about it, we may turn to God’s Word for guidance in it, we might talk to people for advice. But in order to make a good decision it is almost like the criteria of these verses must be included.

Verses 22-31 give a pretty cool visual of wisdom. But what it gave me this morning is the direct relationship between wisdom and God. When we seek one, we will also get the other. But within our brains its easier to imagine seeking God than to seek wisdom. So its safe to say as we grow in our relationship with God we grow in wisdom. The more we learn of God, of His ways and of His commands. The more we learn of wisdom. God’s words always come to life, thats why in verse 7 it says “for I speak the truth”. God’s ways are truth, nothing devious or lacking is in His words. Now if we make a decision that lacks truth, we lack wisdom. Seeking the truth in all things is a good start.

Proverbs 9:

Verses 7-9 gives some insight into dealing with people. I have learned this the hard way a few times. But I should have listened to this Proverb. I dont know if you have ever had this problem, but sometimes I feel like if I just give a little advice or insight into someones life they will accept it, change and be very happy that I helped them. Well as these verses clearly say, there are two types of people when correcting. Wise people who seek to improve, that know we all have faults and weaknesses so its Ok to get constructive criticism (It hurts, but its OK). Or there are the “mockers” or people who dont want to hear their flaws. They cant handle it, there insecurities are to great and therefore turn it on you with disgust and anger. For these people all we can do is pray for them and allow the divine intervention of God to engage them.

Romans 9:

Verse 2-3 was heavy. Could you imagine Paul’s love for His ministry was this great that he was willing to go to this level? That is unreal passion, love and dedication. I pray this type of passion for all of us!

Verse 14-16 was also so powerful. So crazy to think you and I have been handpicked by the Creator of All things. He has chosen us for a purpose to live out and fulfill. My heart is so heavy for this burden because I know how Big God is and how important it is to give our best fight for Him every single day we are on this earth!

Most of this chapter is primarily focused on the Jews and Israelites. Gods chosen people. There are many interesting thoughts throughout this chapter. Verse 33 is speaking directly of Jesus. He is the stumbling block for many. Many do not believe in Him. Many do not believe that He is the Risen Son of God!! And even more dont believe that He is coming Soon!

You know to be completely honest I never thought that I would jump in on this band wagon. But I have. And I have an increasing burden and desire to be more bold about it daily. Jesus is Coming Soon men! A year ago, I thought we would be long gone before we see Gods return. But The world we live in is falling apart, im learning and reading more and more of the things that are lining up according to scripture and prophecy of His return. God is making a major push throughout the church and challenging men (starting right here) to start being BOLD for his name. Just to give one quick illustration, our world and the evil within it is very easily compared to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. These were the two cities that God rained down Burning Sulfur and destroyed them completely (Genesis 19)!

Are you comfortable if you died today, that you could face God and say, “I gave you All I had Lord”? Are we living to please man, or God?

“I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people; and I will call her ‘my loved one’ who is not my loved one,”

He chose us even though He didn’t have to, He loved us even though we make it hard for Him to love us. Lord thank you for your Abundant Mercy and Grace, Lord forgive me for where I fail you and thank you for catching me when I fall.

    Blessing to you all
