Notes from todays reading.

1 Kings 9:

God gave King Solomon a pretty clear warning of what he needs to do in order to keep his family line on the throne of Israel. It is also pretty interesting how God has no problem destroying  the temple that is dear to his heart if His people bow down to other Gods. Gods love is endless, but his wrath is pretty great. But the amazing thing about God is that His Love and Mercy are so great there is always a path back to Him after we blow it. But that path is hidden beneath repentance and complete devotion to Him.

2 Chronicles 8:

Thats quite a bit of achievements and responsibility King Solomon handled and maintained. Gods hand is definitely evident in the Kings success.

Psalm 136:

Depending on what version your Bible is you will either see love or mercy stated as enduring forever. My Bible says “His faithful love endures forever”. It is safe to say that God’s mercy is God’s love, and vice versa. But the main point I want to drive home is based off of the last word…forever. How many things have you bought with a warranty that last forever? Or have you ever made a promise to last forever? If you have how do you know for sure you can uphold it forever? We dont know that, we could get sick, we could get injured, we could die. We as human flesh and blood beings cannot promise forever, it is not accurate. We are making a promise we really cant keep.

But God can. We have been talking about the faithfulness of God. The promises of God. The Word of God. And this Psalm sums everything up with one phrase: “His faithful love endures forever”. The Bible says God is Love. So God endures forever also. When we learn to really lean on Gods love, to lean on Gods Words and to apply both of them in our lives we can know that nothing will shake it. Nothing will break it. And nothing will stop it. Why, or how? Easy. Nothing in all mankind can claim “forever”. No product, no marriage, no earthly love, no job, no amount of money.

Nothing is forever but the Love of God. Nothing is forever but the mercy of God. Nothing is forever but God and all who choose to live for Him and follow Him. Praise God!

Romans 5:

Just in case you didnt realize in verse 2 it says that we have an undeserved privilege in Christ Jesus. We do not deserve the gift of eternal life, or the mercy and grace that we have available to us. We are all sinners, therefore worthy of death, and judgement. But because of the selfless act of Jesus, we still get it. Praise God for that. Something we need to remember with forgiveness of others, although they may not deserve it, God gave it to us!

Verses 12-21 are pretty unreal. What Christ did for us is immeasurable, His enormous act of love leads so many of us into the Fathers love, grace, mercy and righteousness. Just know that no matter what you were like, what you have done in your past Gods grace is greater. We give Satan power when we listen to those lies, that we are not good enough, that God cant forgive what you did, or that if people know you will be looked down upon. We take the power from Satan when we confess our sins, repent of our sins and follow Christ.

If you havent watched that video I posted a few days ago, watch it. See what Jesus did for you and me, Our forgiveness came at a price that we should never forget or take lightly!

Blessings and Love.
