Notes from todays reading.

1 Kings 3:

King Solomon shows some differences in his actions between his father David with his marriage and his worship. They were not sins, but they are areas that could use some refining.

But to have the heart that Solomon had in seeking wisdom and understanding was very powerful to me. It speaks volumes to me of the kind of man King Solomon was, his heart was very good and very loving and caring of his people. It also shows a deep love and honor of the Lord our God.

The story in verses 16-28 is a nice display of the early wisdom of the King. Whats so cool about wisdom is that in its purest form, it is so simple, yet so powerful. Its amazing that Men full of Gods wisdom can say more with less…I pray for that wisdom for all of us so we can bring God glory in everything we do. Amen.

2 Chronicles 1:

Here is Another view of King Solomons heart and the promise God gave him, the catch was in 1 Kings 3:14 where God told him if he follows all of his commands and decrees then He will give King Solomon a long life as his father had. The thing about this statement from God is so important because we have to remember ALL of Gods commands for our lives. They are there to protect us. They are there to guide us into being healthy representations of God the Father. They shouldnt be looked upon as restrictions or punishments as many people in the world view them.

Psalm 78:

Powerful psalms, nice review of the Israelites in the desert, but even more is the point the Author is making. Verses 4-7 explain how we as parents must pass on the knowledge, the blessings and the power of God. If we do not, our children will grow up to be stubborn and rebellious of the Lord God, his power and his mercy. In order to effectively pass this one, we have to LIVE IT! History always repeats itself, and people will always be people. If they are not taught how to love and obey, they will not know how until it may be too late.

 2 Thessalonians 2:

For those of you that dont recognize it, verse 2 speaks of the end times. Or the 7 years of tribulation that is the beginning of the end of the world. Verses 3-12 speaks primarily of the Antichrist, and how he will rule, decieve and run this world as we know it. But how cool is verse 8? My main man Jesus is more powerful than the Anitchrist or “Satan” himself with just the breath of his mouth! Wow! Its always good to be on the winning team!

Verse 15 is very important for us as we approach these time because it is going to get harder and harder to be a real christian, as our nation moves farther and farther from God. We need to be equipped to stand firm against trials in our lives, be unwavering in our beliefs and actions. And the only way is to know our Word well by meditating on it day and night, so that we will have a strong grip, rather than falling to diluted teachings. As my Brother Ben likes to refer to himself of being “In His Grip”.

I pray for all of us to have the drive to get equipped and be prepared to stand firm and maintain a strong grip of Gods word! Amen!

Blessings and Love.
