Notes from todays reading.

1 Kings 2:

Verse 2 is the hard cold truth, all people will go to the grave. Thats a cold hard fact that no one on earth will deny. Its too bad that after death is the part so many people are confused, lost and unaware of.

Verses 5-9 is pretty lame of King David. In my opinon thats pretty chicken. As a strong and mighty warrior and King, David was not good with discipline. Whether it was his family or the people underneath him. Now his final closing words to his son, the new King is bent on evil and revenge. If David handled business right there on the spot his final words to his son could have been of love and encouragement.

The rest of the chapter is King Solomon tying up his fathers loose ends. As men of God we need to make sure we stand in the gap. That we stand up for righteousness no matter how much it hurts. I know sometimes it is hard, but in order to leave a legacy of life and guidance to our children and grandchildren and every other relationship in our lives we need to be firm at times. Just like David told King Solomon several times recently, “Be Strong and Courageous”. David was not always strong, he didnt do the hard thing at times when he should have, this was a saying he couldnt always live up too in hopes his son would. Lets not hope our kids will carry a Godly strong and courageous mindset, but lets know that they will live it.

1 Chronicles 29:

Verse 14-15 are words to remember. Human nature tends to forget this, especially when wealth and possessions become great and exceedingly abundant. Pride can come in and crash the party. God may have blessed us with riches, therefore dont get attached to it, because God can so easily strip it away!

Psalm 95:

This psalm is a nice side view of God’s feelings and actions towards his people during the period following their exodus from Egypt. But verse 2 stuck out to me…Let us come to Him with thanksgiving. How many times do we come with sorrow and depression instead. Every single one of us has so much to be thankful for every single day. We need to praise God on the blessings and life that we have today, rather than worry about the things we dont have.

2 Thessalonians 1:

This little chapters packs quite a punch. Paul didnt hold nothing back in verses 8 and 9. To be completely honest Im a little afraid to be that straightforward about eternal death and destruction to people who dont believe in God, especially people I know. I pray you guys dont feel this way so I can receive strength from you. I also pray that this weakness I have will be a thing of the past and we will all stand firm on the truth of the Word of God.

Verses 11 and 12 sum it all up for us. We need to be praying for each other so we can live a life worthy of his call. I really doubt my weakness in the line above is worthy of Gods call. I know for a fact he doesnt want me to be this weak. So I pray for His power for myself and any of you that may feel this way, I pray we will bring honor to his name in all we do, and I pray for his continued abounding grace in all of our lives.

Blessings and Love.

Amen, May we count our blessings continually. Thank you Jesus for your shed blood. Thank You God for the atonement of our sins, thank you Lord that we have been forgiven, Past Present and Future. There is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Can I get an AMEN?
