Notes from todays reading.

2 Samuel 4:

Whoa. Heavy. David was consistent in his actions of integrity and character. But man he didnt mess around. But any leader becomes easy to serve when you know their intentions and ways. A consistent leader will have subordinates that become exactly like their leader. David was grooming his nation to become fair and just. To allow God to be the ultimate judge, rather than take life in their own hands repaying evil with evil. To all of you that lead others, strive to not only be fair, impartial and just. But be consistent.

2 Samuel 5:

Verses 4-5 are good facts to highlight as we continue to learn about King David.

Verse 10 makes me worried. We know David has some stumbles up ahead. This verse is not the first time it was mentioned that David gets more powerful. When we serve God all out we have to be ready for unreal blessings and power. We also have to be aware that God did all this, not ourselves, and we need to constantly remind ourselves that God needs to remain first, not our pride, fame or reputation.

Verses 19-25 list two examples of David inquiring of God. The more we inquire of God the more He can align our life with His will. Notice how after David inquired of God, He was not only obedient but He was successful.

Psalm 139:

This is my all time favorite Psalms! Verse 15-18 just absolutely blows my mind. That is a statement about every single one of us! That is truly amazing and unfathomable. This is a good Psalm to remember in tough times when you may feel like God is not there. Or your wondering why is this trial still going on in my life God? Do you really love me God?

If this Psalm doesn’t bring you comfort, especially verse 17-18; I dont know what will. Believe in these words, and meditate on them, especially when the devil is filling you with lies.

Matthew 16:

Verses 13-20 are very important verses for us to realize, know and remember in our walks. What Jesus told Peter was not directed for only Peter. There is nowhere in scripture that says Peter will be the supreme disciple or anything like that. Therefore we know that Jesus is speaking for the disciples being the frontrunners in general and the impact their confession of the Messiah has and will have. This realization we all have in believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour is a gift from God. Obviously many people dont believe that and fight against that idea everywhere. But once we believe, confess and are baptized in it we become part of “the church” that Jesus says “all the powers of hell will not conquer it”. This verse is powerful. My words will never give it the complete justice it deserves. But as Christians we have to not only believe but realize the power that we have to overcome the evil in and around are lives. The keys represent authority for entry into God’s kingdom. Which is expressed through the binding and loosing of things here on earth. We have the authority through Jesus Christ to break free of the strongholds in our lives whether its pornography, depression, anger, pride. Any of these things can be broken when we are believers in Jesus Christ. We will have the power and authority through the Holy Spirit to break free of this evil.

God Bless.
