Notes from todays reading.
2 Samuel 3:
Verses 1b, and 36-37 illustrate the impact that David’s integrity and character were continuing to establish. Davids actions were based along Gods principles and values, therefore leading him into a strong and successful life. His reaction to Abner being killed illustrated to his people what kind of a leader he was. Although he did not punish his men for the wrong they did he still made it very clear that the king was in no way responsible.
1 Chronicles 12:
Although David was anointed by God and word spread across Israel of this over the years I dont think this was the main reason for Davids strong support and following. Verse 38 summarizes the support David received not only because of his anointing but primarily because of the blameless life he lived. David always was fair and equal to all, he preserved and enforced justice. He sought God in most of his decisions so far, therefore leading him to be succesful at most of what he did.
Matthew 15:
There are some definite nuggets within this chapter. Starting off with inner purity I love the boldness in Jesus to directly call out the religious leaders. Their religious views are still very common today among christians and other religions. What we need to understand is that Jesus paid the price so that we can grow in a relationship with Him and God the Father. Think about your best relationship; is that relationship good because you do things because you have to? Or because you want to? I choose to do certain things to my wife, not because I have to, but because I really want to. The same goes with our relationship with the Father, we do because we Love Him.
As christians we need to focus on the things that can purify our hearts. What are we doing in our daily life, within the four walls of our home that can bring forth things that defile us? There is no point in cleaning the outside, if the inside is not clean. We need to be focused on cleaning from the inside out.
I love knowing that we serve a God who is not limited. Verses 29-31 explains how Jesus healed all. I really love the word in there…ALL.
God Bless.
